Astronauts take the first picture of the Earth through a window of the Apollo 8 spacecraft.

Christmas Eve, 2008:

On the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 8 mission, the oneplanetarchitecture institute (OPAi) is established as a new platform for inter-disciplinary co-operation. OPAi aims to make a fresh contribution to sustainable ‘structures’ ranging from buildings to supply chains. With the establishment of OPAi, the oneplanetarchitecture attitude and methodology as developed by RAU is no longer limited to traditional architecture as such. It is now an attitude based network that partners can use for their own benefit and the planet at large.

For each case, OPAi forms project-specific teams. Each team is a unique collaboration of people we know from our network. They work in a co-operative, task oriented manner and are determined to deliver the quality that our planet earth deserves.

OPAi’s fields of research, consultancy and project management include:

Energy (saving; production; distribution)

Materials (origin; conversion; life cycle analysis)

Organisational development (flow, balance, change, identity)

Context analysis (integration into nature; space for nature)

ONEPLANETARCHITECTURE.

RAU designs buildings with a strong emphasis on sustainability. For 16 years now, the studio has been working for the public and private sectors, maintaining an approach that is conscious of planet earth and uses integral methodology. RAU is actively involved in the current international discussion on sustainability and in developing energy-saving technology and energy-producing building concepts.

In a world where so much nature is threatened by human activity, RAU considers it its mission to make a positive contribution through its presence and its work.

Art & Build is about turning thoughts into reality, leading to the built form in a time window where contextual parameters of matter, form and light crystallize.

ART & BUILD is a group of one hundred architects united by the same passion and motivated by the opportunities of creating contemporary and sustainable architecture offered by society.

Based in Brussels, Paris, Luxemburg and Toulouse, the firm has twenty years international experience in projects for public institutions, developers and private clients in office, residential, leisure, retail, health, education, research and master-planning sectors in over fifteen countries.
